The gay life in Istanbul concerning hamams and fun cinemas has changed during the last 2 years.

You should be very careful when visiting a turkish hammam which is known for its gay visitors, as these locations are going to be controlled from time to time by the police in the last two years.
For that reason gays aren't appreciated there anymore, even the owners try to avoid the entrance of gaymen. For a tourist it wouldn't be a problem to enter there but for the locals the situation has become very complicated.

Gay life is not well-seen by the government in Istanbul. That doesn't mean, that you may not have any gay contacts, but you should be very careful if you don't want to experience a bad surprise.....

Nice old Hamam building, but very dirty.
All the customers were portly middle aged men, except for one gorgeous tourist.

The gentleman who showed me to my changing room hassled me for tips on the way in and on the way out. He complained when I only tipped 10%. This leaves a bad taste.
Considering the dirty state of the sauna & the minging towels, I actually felt no tip would have been appropriate.

It took me a whil but I finally found it thanks to the explanations I got from Jake's comment.

I had a massage, which was good. There were a few middle-aged, bearish Turkish men. They all seemed interested in me and tried to take me to one of the cubicles in the cool area. After a while, a younger very attractive guy came in. I sat nearby and he was stroking his di** in no time. We went into a cubicle together with one of the older guys and the three of us had a good time. They both came quickly but was worth it.

Not the cleanest place, but definitely a good and authentic experience. Paid YTL 20 and YTL 30 for the massage. They were very kind, gave me some tea after I changed into my clothes. They deserve to be tipped

I've been passing by Voyvoda / Tesana in my previous visit of Istanbul and I never dared entering a Hamam. So I tried it this time, never had trouble finding Cesme Hamam as I take the tunnel tram even before. Located at a small street in an area for hardware stores, tools, sanitary wares, etc. on the way to Galata tower. about 4 minutes walk from the tunnel tram station.

Paid YTL20 from the nice friendly guy on the second floor. The massage guys (2 of them, an old man and the hairy middle aged man, they alternate on days) insists on me doing the massage several times but am not really keen on it.

And as I expect, am goin' to have a lot of fun. It's an old hamam and mostly frequented by middle-aged daddies, some young guys too and not too much foreigners, have seen 1 on each occasion I was there. The first time I was there, I sat on the corner as I don't know what to do, my first time in a hamam too. The very corner at the end of the room and already two guys started to get near me washing themselves, showing off their ...u know what.

But I still kept my innocence and thought about being discreet and stuff, and everytime I go to the colder part of the hamam where there are toilets and cubicles, lots of them follows. So that's where the action are taking place. I had fun and on some occassions some of them keep on peeping on the open top cubicle, and at one point the guy I was trying to avoid pushed me inside the cubicle right after I'm done with one of them, it's like "u did it with him, so u should also do it with me" kind of aggression. No choice there but to give in. In fact, I gave in to many of them. I even had two at a time. And there's this slim young good-looking guy who I had really steamy hot half an hour inside the toilet who insisted on taking me home. No need for that though since I don't need any emo-attachments on such trips.

The attendant who give towels are nice to me on my next visits, give him a tip though, worth it. I had so much fun in that hamam. If ur into active hairy daddies and turkish bears, this is the place!

Visited in mid February 2009. This hamam is surrounded by electrical tools merchants. From Tunnel subway station, take Tesane Cad. west for 3 small blocks, turn right at
Zinciri Han Sokak, then take 3rd array left. The entrance of Cesme Hamam is middle of the block, right side, and the reception is upstairs.
As a tourist, I have paid YTL20.00 for general admission, plus YTL30.00+tip for skin scrub & massage. After finishing the massage, you may \"read the atmosphere\"easily and have fun appropriately. Public action is prohibited but everybody there was expecting one. Mostly happening in the toilet or behind the wall so the cleanliness is the most concern.
However, if you like energetic hairy Turkish daddies, this is the place you should try.

rispetto il resto degli altri hammam visitati questo risulta migliore in pulizzia e gestione ,molto frequentato dal mondo ursino e sembrerebbe concesso appartarsi in privato

Was at Chesme Hamam July 2007 and had a difficult time finding its street name. Had to ask about 5 people on the street until finally one fruit shop dealer told me the right way. Its a side street close to the water and the bridge over it in Beyoglu. When entering there is a massage guy, very hairy and called ***** #name removed by Admin# (of course!). He gives great massage and asks for huge tip, don´t get offended, just bargain! He offers "other" service too and gets attracted by male butt which he gives a bit more attention than usual. But I had fun with a guy that sat besides my marble bench and rubbed his genitals all the time while I was massaged. When I got up the whole crowd was after me, wanking their stuff, but I escaped with my neighbour guy into the toilet. Once finished, the crowd was waiting outside and watched, listned. So dont tell me there is nothing going on in turkish hamams, you just need to know how to get it! Be discreet anyway, read the signes and gestures of the men and you will get what you want! If you don´t want action, just don´t answer the looks! chris

Chesme hamman is quite nice. Mainly local clientele, probably because it is away from touristic areas. But actually it is around 5 min walk from the cable tram "Tunel" station.
It is not the cleanest place you can find, but you can have fun. It still preferred the old Cukurcuma where guys used to touch each other openly in the hamman area. Maybe time has changed.
