yes 20 euro is expensive but there's no competition from other sauna in dublin. (unlike london, amsterdam etc). daytime can be quiet but that's expected. so far no problem with the staffs. most visitors are over 40s. occasional muscular hot guys but most of them are just showing off. getting more popular with the filipinos. overall it's an ok sauna if you're really horny.

i've been going to the boilerhourse for years and have also visited many saunas in many cities around the world so reckon i can offer a fairly objective opinion.... the boilerhouse is basically a good sauna HOWEVER i do agree that:

1) 20euro entry is too much (15 would be fair i think)
2) the staff can be quite 'bitchy' - like they just don't want to be there and everything is a hassle (especially the irish ones - the foreign ones are marginally better)
3) the place could do with a bit of a sprucing up/refurb
4) passouts/same day re-entry should be included, given the high entry cost
5) the management seem to have become complacent
6) standards have generally dropped consistently over the years

in fairness though the above could be said of many saunas of this type everywhere.

i do like the complimentary use of the sunbed, which, if you use it, does justify the 20euro entrance fee to some extent.

but most importantly, i have had some of the best sauna fun there - ever, anywhere....and for this reason i will always go back!

i suppose you have to suck it and see for yourself!

I went to the Boilerhouse last night and thoroughly enjoyed it, everything was clean, there was no foul smell, the staff were great. if I had a complaint it was that the whole place is too dark, but I still loved it

Have been here a few times lately and at various times of the day. It has become very quiet and there is very limited action. I'm not sure about the cleanliness either. The staff are reasonable, although one or two are rude little bitchy types. Certainly the customer is not too important to them! I noticed too, that certain people seem to get better lockers than others! I think the 20€ entry is too expensive and the fact that you cannot re-enter on the same day without paying again is absurd. It's a pity this is the best that Dublin has to offer.

I travel to Dublin for work and occ use the Boilerhouse either in the afternoon or if I'm up for the weekend. I can see some of what the bad reviews are about but don't totally agree with them...the place is small, usually clean, the staff are ok and while €20 is dear is cheaper than being in a bar trying to hook up LOL

I hear you say 'forget that what are the guys like!!!' In the afternoon it is mostly older guys BUT there are usually a few cute fit guys to make it work while. It's better late at night espin the weekends tho I do agree about camp young guys, posers, queens etc but you getthem everywhere.

Overall worth the visit esp it you are ok looking & good shape you shouldn't have a problem so enjoy

I used to frequent the Boilerhouse often for its good vfm - a reasonable crowd of willing, able and randy guys ranging in age from late teens/early twenties up to mid 50s - 60s - something for everyone and everyone there for m2m fun. It used to be clean, orderly and the staff friendly. In the afternoons and early (til 8 pm or so)evenings one was always guaranteed a number of hook-ups with guys who, like me, wanted man-fun, in two- or more-somes. Rubbers and lube were always available in the lockers and usually in the cabins too.
My attendance dropped off as I was working abroad, but when at home I would always try to visit and have slowly become totally disillusioned with the place.

The price has rocketed from €12 to €20. New staff are indifferent to the point of rudeness. The anal douches have been removed - staff told me it was because they had been repeatedly wrecked by the clients and management couldn't be bothered any more to replace them. You might get a rubber & lube in your locker now, you might not. If you appear to be one of the favoured few, you'll get a "good" locker, in a corner, near a seat; if you're not, you'll have to dress & undress almost in the hallway. Chipped tiles, scummy floors, the lock on the WC missing, a constant smell of "stale body" pervades the place and there's an air of neglect.
The crowd seems to have changed too. Opinionated teenagers/early 20s now almost sneer at the older guys; being repeatedly groped on the stairs by the same 2 or 3 guys who can't recognise NO for what it is; being followed around and pestered by guys I wouldn't want to have fun with - nobody else seemed to want to either; posers parading but doing nothing; guys lying in booths watching the only (few) working TVs, door open, stroking themselves, but refusing maybe 10-12 offers in as many minutes - they won't perform but they won't move on either; guys arguing so loudly in the booths that we all could hear what was going on over the sound of the music; aggression; broken TVs in the booths; on one occasion I saw a smallish guy have his towel stripped from him by 2 much bigger brutes and while one of them held him, the other tried to bareback him - all this while the little guy was watching a blue movie in the open TV area upstairs (I don't think this was a rape fantasy type thing - the little guy left in tears)!!!
The Boilerhouse was, briefly and after the Gym closed down, the premier gay sauna in Dublin. It has been slipping for quite some time. It now needs a client and facility make-over - badly and urgently. But as it seems to be the only gay sauna in the city, there's little incentive for management to do anything, just sit and let the cash roll in. I had heard there was a new one opening somewhere around Grafton St or Andrew St - anyone know of it? It would make a pleasant change from the Boilerhouse - a true example of rip-off Ireland.
Go 100 miles up the road to Outside in Belfast for an altogether more satisfying and better value encounter.

I am from London and came to visit this sauna...
WAY WAY OVER PRICED!!! AND NOBODY UNDER 50!!!
THIS IS A MASSIVE RIPOFF AND I WILL NEVER GO BACK AGAIN..

BE warned: All the good reviews on this site are probably from the management of the boilerhouse themselves..because this sauna is grotesque, and extemely unethical for charging 20 euros for what u get...

If they can be unethical to change 20 euros, then believe me, they are unethical enough to write their own Positive reviews on this and other websites...

There will not be any hot young guys (like you get in London), because the young guys unfortunately will never waste their 20 euros on this place....believe me!
