A place to avoid, regardless of what you're looking for you won't find it there. Rent boys have mostly given up, you'll find no more than half a dozen, the few patrons are there for the beer. The place is as tacky as it could be, attendance is made of bored and unfit older men who seem to want nothing but a few hours away from home, nothing else.

Third post on my Recife review from my visit last July. Saved the high-end places for last. Boa Vista is touted as the best bathhouse in the whole Northeast Region in Brazil. As a conservative, gay-bashing region, there is no gay lifestyle outside of specific places. Boa Vista awesome facilties have then to fulfill all expectations and social functions its patrons seem to want. So, it is, in that order: an entertainment venue (drag queen shows, disco club, the solo-guitar-player-sitting-on-a-stoll-butchering-bossa-nova-songs live music style Brazilians seem to love so much), beauty salon, restaurant (yes, I've seen people having full meals there), and TV lounge (soap-opera watching is a major hit). How about fun? The armies of rent-boys are good-looking (they still look poor and uneducated) and have as their major quality the fact that they don`t harass you as guys in Salvador do. The place has two mazes, way too hot steam room and dry sauna, and is adequately lit where it matters. Guys are still shy but seem to be more in the mood than in the low-end places. Found some good fun finally. The best times to go are weekends in the afternoon since the evenings are so crowded you can help but feel awkward for being wrapped in a towel squeezed by men wrapped in towels and, yet, you`re not being fondled in a nice way...Staff is friendly but a bit intrusive (Brazilians like to have their help on sight at all times). All in all, a good place to go for some fun amidst a lot of socializing. Could be worse.
